Nepal Rastra Bank’s financial information unit has released a report analyzing the risks of virtual assets (like cryptocurrency) from 2021 to mid-2025.
The report dwells on the risk of virtual asset Nepal could face like money laundering, financial investment in the terrorist activities, production and expansion of lethal weapons. Suspicious transaction surfaced from January 2021 to 2025 July in the Go-AML system, and data received from national and international sources are analysed in detail. It is centered on how virtual asset is misused, its trend and identification of the indicators of possible risks.
The primary goal of the report is to alert relevant stakeholders and urge them to implement stronger regulatory, supervisory, and legal measures to curb these virtual asset-related crimes.
